Front Street
Front Street - Mix By JayFromJerz 11/5/2011 by jb8928
Above is a compilation of songs form JayFromJerz. There is a lot of dope music on this mix, so feel free to check it out. Jam Young's "My Heart" made it onto the mix as well, so a big shot out to Jay for that. It's #24.

5th Element
Hey yall,
I know I have not written much on this blog and i hope you can forgive me. As usual i have tons going on and since blogger doesn't work well on my blackberry it's hard to write any entries. BUT since i have you guys now, just wanted to inform you guys on a few things. First, "A Writer's Dream" is still on the way but since there's been a GRAND delay, i will try and release a bunch of solo tracks for you. I haven't been able to get into the studio much and when i do it's been for an hour and that is a rather depressing fact...trust, the show will go on though.
So as some of you know (or don't know), i joined a group from College Point- my hometown, called "The Council." They/we make a lot of dope music, i put them on to my engineer's studio, so it was only right for me to be down with their movement. Regardless, of several indiscretions, things are going well now. We performed this Thursday and teared the place down and we also have a mix-tape on the way titled "The 5th Element." There will be skits from the movie as well as a couple surprise joints. There will be about 14/15 songs on the mix-tape and i should be on about 9 or 10 of them. So even though, my solo debut is on hold for the moment at least you guys can enjoy our group music. Think of me the way you think of Wale. He's a group and a solo artist now. So, new music will be released and thank for reading...who ever still does.

Progress
As the summer comes to a close, and the colleges begin re-opening their doors to the fresh high school graduates...one of the only words i can think of IS "progress" or rather progression. I have a YEAR. ONE. Which really is 7-8 months if you add summer and vacation to prove something to myself. NOT only concerning school BUT with basketball, WITH music, and with my own insecurities. Including my body. Well when it comes to all that, i really only have 2 months to get the corrections needed to be done, to get done. And I'm doing a pretty solid job so far but after playing my first game (in the park), i realize i am really rusty. and now really frustrated. but with hard work this frustration may lead to excelling. and by excelling i may get confidence and with confidence my world opens up into a universe and the possibilities become limitless. So regardless of how i feel now, i must know that progress is my friend and TIME is my enemy. So progress...here i come

Patience and Consistency
*The excerpt below was written by Shake from 2dopeboyz
"My only advice? Patience. It’s easy to get all uppity and start saying negative things about the websites, radio DJs, etc when they don’t post your stuff. But you’ve gotta understand that we all have lives of our own. And there are much more artists than bloggers, writers, DJs, etc. Much more! So timing is crucial. I honestly try to take time out to listen to new acts but most of it’s either the same recycle bin shit or it’s obvious there wasn’t much time put into the craft. Technology today makes it so easy for anyone to download an instrumental, record a rhyme using their laptop’s microphone and send an email (or thirty thousand Twitter messages) with a link. I understand the hustle and I understand the desire to be heard, but some folks have an insane false sense of entitlement. Just because you sent something doesn’t mean it NEEDS to be up on the site. When I come across dope new artists I shed light on them. And you can search the site for proof. There is a lot more to running 2dbz than most people think and it takes a load of time out of our daily schedule. So it’s physically impossible to listen to EVERYONE. It just is. That being said… keep making QUALITY music and you’re time will come. Trust."
What shake says above is a big truth in the industry, especially when trying to be put on. It helps me be more relaxed and know that there will be a time frame for me and just like i previously stated when that opportunity comes i have to grab it.
P.S. this is the video that ignited the excerpt:

The Question
hey yall,
I know i haven't written an actual entry in a while but i just had something on my mind. I just dropped a new song and video (below) and i must admit it definitely IS, the best one yet. And i'm promoting it like crazy because i have the confidence that this song will impress somebody. But my question is about what about the people it doesn't impress? They're not the haters, who dislike without reason, they are the people who aren't convinced WITH reasons. I sent it to a couple of people who are in a good position musically and they gave me some advice, which i will definitely note when i write new songs. But i just wonder does every new artist worry about this? Do the rappers who are known on blogs, feel this way? Or have they become numb to dislike and continue to do what they're like.
The next and probably last song, i will release before the mixtape is "Dreamchaser" what i would like to think is the official single. I like the song but not sure how much, therefore it makes me question how everyone else will feel when it drops. I've re-recorded it a couple times and have one more re-do to do because i want it to be perfect. I plan on puttig it on itunes and want some OD OFFICIAL ARTWORK as well as an amazing video which might amp what the song lacks, if anything. Lyrically and flow wise it's pretty good, i must say. Roc's production is mellow but smooth. And everyone who has heard it so far says it's dope so maybe it's just me. of course, i want everyone to like it and catch on but it's definitely not easy. I'm sending my songs to blogs all over the place and only a few have posted it and maybe they are the only ones that have read it. WHO KNOWS.
I just can't give up and be persistant and FOCUSED. I can't let my insecurity, which has a been a big problem in the success of my life, get in the way. So now that i got this off my chest...i'm off to chase my dream

Crazy Dreams
Hey yall?
Isn't it crazy the things that happen from the moment you fall asleep and wake up. It's like a si-fi story in your mind and it feels so real. Last night i had a dream i was in New Jersey or what looked like jersey (lol) with a girl i really love and a dog. We were in a bank taking out money and she went outside before i finished my transactions and as she walked out i felt something going wrong. I saw these four guys leave right behind her. Next moment i hear my dog outside barking and people screaming. I go check where they are, which is like a caged area with grass, and the men are trying to attack my dog back. No one is doing anything. I save my dog and then look for my girlfriend. She is no where to be found because there are several men now with the same outfit with different people in another outfit. I notice in the corner of my eye she's in like this pink outfit and the men are holding her up but she is barley conscious. I chase after them and try to grab her back. The adrenaline picks up. I start fighting off these guys, the cops are there but doing nothing. Somehow i get her back and put her up against the wall and then start balling. I'm crying trying to get help and do something but can't.
My dream stopped.
To you guys reading the story may not be crazy but you can all relate to having such a crazy dream and when you wake you up it feels intensly real.
Anyway, just wanted to write something.

Mood Ring Drink: Special Edition (Moscato & Riesling)

These are my favorite wines. Sweet. Tasty. Between 5-12 percent alcohol. Pricing between 6- 15. Well worth it though. Moscato is dessert wine but good to sip at on any occasion. Just thought i'd educate then wine-less souls out there. :) enjoy.
Mood Ring Returns: What I've been watching

Well, hey yall.
I just wanted to point out some shows i've been tuning into that might interest you.
First, starting with Episodes. It's on showtime...first season, only 7 episodes but it is Matt Leblanc's return to TV since Joey. The first episode might not interest you but it gets funnier as you watch. The writing is really good. I think it's hilarious. The acting is pretty good but the dialouge is what really makes it funny.
2. The Cape:
I only saw the first 2 or 3 episodes. A bit over dramatic and i don't necessarily like all the actors or the dialouge but something keeps me wanting to watch. I want to find the episodes i missed to see if it continues to pull interest.
3. East Bound & Down:
If you like vulgarity and douche bags then this is your show. Kenny powers is pretty funny and outrageous. He says everything we think but don't say. The writing and script is great. 2nd season finished in september of 2010. 3rd season should be coming.
4. Mr. Sunshine:
Matthew Perry's return to TV. Obviously i'm a BIG friends fan and like to see how their carrers are post-friends. The show is funny. Not hilarious. But somewhat intersting. Perry's role is a bit different from chandler but his sarcastic lonely self is back.
5. Californication:
Saving thebest for last. Californication is amazing. Painful. Funny. PHENEMONAL writing. I really enjoy it. I'm really into it. If you like writers, hollywood, family, and drama this show is for you (basically for everyone) i can't wait to catch up on the seasons soon. :)

"Caught in the Life"
http://hulkshare.com/4r0kjksfi7rh
Cymarshall Law- One MIllion Miles Away
If you LOVE hip-hop there is no doubt in my mind you will like at least the first verse of this song. Pure dopeness and realness. SO do YOURself a favor and download it.
Anyway, i know i haven't spoken much but i been rather preocuppied or speechless or maybe i just haven't had the right words to say. School just started so another hectic semester begins and one of 3 semesters left in my college (undergrad) career. I should be happy i guess. All things must come to end, so people say, and another new phase. Damn, wasn't freshmen year like yesterday and high school like a week ago. And i'm about to be 21, finally, yet i don't even want it to come yet. Slowly but surely it will. I guess i'm not in the greatest mood especially ignoring my homework to write this but there's nothing much i can do about anything. In the past few weeks/2 months this has happend:
-Fall semester ended, Spring Semester began
-Had a 3.48GPA last semester- far better than i've ever done or expected. No c's.
-I've recorded about 30 songs and 20 of them will be on the mixtape. The rest needs to be recorded.
-A girl i dated in high school for a month is now pregnant "interesting?" lol
-I've caught up to Entourage on season 4
-Sleeping habits are out of wack
-Smoked more than i have in my whole life
-Got a 50 dollar ticket for smoking a black n mild while typsy at 2 in the morning "FUCK THE POLICE"
-Seen the very limited playtime i've received decline into the negatives
-Realized i have a career 35 points in college and a carrer high in points (for a single game) in high school at 18.
-Realized my jump shot has gotten REAL but i'm still too scared to dribble or play point guard and everyone concerning basketball has little to no faith.
-Someone said to me today "you have balls for staying on the team after not playing. I would of quit"
-Bought production from DJ Puerto Roc
-See my bank account crying for a check
-Become really good friends with Wade and miss my friendship with DV although i am very understanding
-Been teased, abused, and bullied. "Fuck yall niggaz"
-Watched my basketball team fail misreasbly and can only watch.
-Accepting more and more that i hve a girlfriend
-Working my way to publish something someone has never done
-Become a better poet and lyrisct "Thanks Burgess and rap music"
-Lose my therapist after 3 consecutive years of therapy
-Miss my sisters. Hug my sisters. Wanted to kill my sisters.
-Wonder when i get to have my payback
-Hope to read more
I mean that doesn't sum it all up but you can have some more brief insight into my world.
Before i forget in less than an hour my friend Anthony Sideries will become 21, Happy Birthday man.
I would vent but i need sleep. Love you guys who still check the blog and even if you don't.

Above is a video of my uncle and his associates, Los and Deniro, who make up the Long Island movement "Sky Lab." I've been helping them and recording for free at their studio which is pretty cool. I'm trying to get down with them because they actually have organization, shows, and a small following. It's the beginning of something big so in the words of will i am "check it out, check it out."
Also this is my uncle's latest mixtape. He's planning to drop another one, which i will HOPEFULLY, be featured on around christmas/new years. It's going to be semi-dark just like "Halloween" was/is. There is another mixtape of SkyLab's that is available on the bandcamp too, if you want to check that out.

Happy (Black) Thanksgiving (Friday) Day lol.
Hey yall,
I decided to put the last two days together in one entry so happy thanksgiving and black friday to you all. I really hope that everyone got to spend time with families and friends and stuffed their faces with turkey. I had a good time. It was really nice. I'm actually in florida visiting my mom and sisters and my grandmother's here. We had a lot of good homemade food. My sister's are pretty good cooks. Also had some wine. Actually in the last 2 hours, I've had lots of wine but it was delicious. Moscato for life baby.
Anyway, black friday was alright. Only went to target and the mall but there weren't any crazy sales. I still really want NBA 2K11 and Jay-Z's decoded book but I'll have to wait. I did get two copies of kanye's album, the nicki minaj album, curren$y album, and the itunes Lloyd Banks album. I'm tight tho because I haven't found a physical copy of Lloyd Banks' album...smh but whatever. I got a new pair of sneakers and some new clothing but nothing too crazy or too much. Btw, on a random note, I HATE NOT excerising. Wish I could play ball but instead I'll try and relax myself and get some work done. I have a LOT of work to do. An insurmountable amount of work. Shit sucks but still trying to enjoy my time. I also got my new phone, which I'm trying to set up so this entry will probably be the last from my blackberry curve.
Anyway, I'm getting back to my family time. Go buy music albums today, for real all the music is fantastic. Enjoy yourselves and know that I appreciate anytime you take out to read into my life.
Jam on it! The chronicles begin...

5 Stars 4 The Douche Bag
Yo i love Kanye and he is a genius and will be crowned one of the greatest of all time. If i can be 1/18 as good as he is, i will be extremely successful. Just to let you guys know i'm doing really well and basketball but i don't want to jinx myself so next topic :)
So kanye west posted the review rolling stone wrote about his album and... yup, you guessed it by the title. 5 stars. The perfect album. You guys can read it here:
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/reviews/album/45342/232350
On related Kanye news, his protege and fellow G.O.O.D Music member/artist released his 2nd album today and although rolling stone only liked this half as much as Kanye's work (2 1/2 stars for Cudi) the people are loving it. It was sold out in the target by my school, which is BULLSHIT so i couldn't cop it today but i will ASAP. This week it is 10 dollars in stores, you can't go wrong.
Last, rolling stone has pictures from the greatest concert ever and the pictures are amazing. Phenemonal. Check em out here:

It's Hard To Be Positive When You're a Pessimist

Hey yall,
The picture has no relevance to what i'm about to write...actually it's suppose to put a positive spin on all of his fuckery going on in my life. I would say 75 percent of my problems are created by me, 88 percent would include problems i create plus things i have no control over. The rest are other people and things like school...etc. That's just some brief insight and also since i will not have therapy this week, more than likely, i have to talk to myself and whoever else will listen through this blog. Also, in all honestly, fuck a lot of yall. I write because this is what i do, i'm a writer, so don't criticize me for doing what my title tells me to do and what i love, LOVE to do.
Happy Birthday Lisa! Eventhough, i know for a fact you have never been on here lol. I still shout out people because it's necessary. Just as a heads up, i may-be detatching myself more off of social networks and on my phone in general. I am caused too much extra stress by these things. Okay, now that all of the aforementioned has been stated i will quickly note that i finally earned my first "A" of the semester and in my shakespeare class, which i am doing the worst in, ironically. Still i am proud and look to use these grades as momumentum to propell nothing lower than a B, for my first semester ever, EVER? yes, ever. Now on to the negative...
I'm still struggling and turning the ball over in practice and even worse, my confidence and aggression is still shot by mental loops i can't seem to jump through. Everyone else can but me. I really don't know if i can be on a team/bench for 3 years with no progression. Granted it is my fault but once things are made up i will be lost forever in it- the black hole of basketball. I have very few time left to show my coach i have done a 360 or at worst, 180 but again the window of opportunity is closing, fast. This makes me think... maybe i should redshirt or possibly quit. What is my purpose, really? If to rot on a bench with my self pride, confidence, and aggression is dwindling on a sideline cheering people on, when i should be cheering and playing on the court with them. again, i use should...placing full blame and responsibility on myself. I'm sick. I'm in terrible condition. I'm overwhelmingly exhausted by trying to climb these mental roadblocks. it's bullshit, on my part because i'm standing in the way of myself. Do you know how that feels? When you, yourself, is the ONLY one to blame. Let me tell you, it's worse than self depricating...it feels as close to death as i may get until i reach actual death. I'm tired of excsues, tired of needing inspiration from music and people...i need to figure this shit out and fast.
Strangely, the only thing i can think of is... did god put this in my path for a reason? or am i meant to fail. I'm not sure of the answer yet but i have to figure that out, soon, as well.
And just as an FYI: I am an extremist. A purist extremist. It is in my blood, personality, and maybe worse, soul.
Lastly...i don't even know where to start with this one. It's just the same old stuff, same old painful, escalating arguments that consume my day, my nights, my mind, my sleep, my everything. It's worse than adding sprinkles on top, it's like adding a bigger cone with sprinkles on top of the bad cone i have already. Basically, when this i am fighting with her everything is even worse. Like why can't things be terrible and i can know that she's there, waiting and yearning for my kiss. Things like that don't exist, not even in an ideal world. It is something to abstract, to outside for the imagination even to grapple it.
Let me explain something. I am in love. I have been in love for a while now but i am not in a relationship, mainly because of my own choice. Mentally the title, the responsibility, the obligations, the commitment and much worse stuff scare me. Honestly, i haven't been in a "relationship" since i was 15 years old. Shouldn't love be bigger than a relationship, or a title, or marriage to say the least. At least, for now. But it's not. My hard truth, my fear is painful. For that i am sincerely apologetic.
Now let me ask the audience something. You ever have an arguement, a pointless one at that, but with all the time wasted and words spatted, the arguement just grows into something more terrible. You say things and so do they. Well it's like that a lot for me. I have probably said "the worst things i've ever heard" a few times.
I can't even finish that train of thought, main thing is... i will be in love and don't know if i will fall out of it but this constant "let's separate" bit on both our behalves is (insert word) devastating and annoying. Well i may have solved that problem because i don't know if we'll be talking or seeing each other much. A lot of other factors come in play: age, needs, wants, goals, pms, holidays, change, events, stress, and they all effected this arguement and possible separation.
I'm in pain but i'm also in denial but that's how the ball rolls, as the saying goes. I could go on forever on this subject but i can't really. It's time to just give my mind a rest, focus on school work, and making music AND more importantly succeeding in my dreams.
BTW: Growing up is not bad, it is just strange and rather interesting and it effects me everyday.
Whatever yall, just jam on it. Whatever it is.
And i will pray, hope, and yearn for positive outcomes in ALL my situations and in ALL of YOURS too.
Another day, another obstacle trying to strap you down into the electric chair.
Will i succumb? Will you? I hope not. Maybe i should stop hoping and do. Make this right. Either way, i'm still going to spend a lot of money coming up, even if the person and i are not...anything.
ZZZZZZ goodnight (cold) world, i'll see you in the morning...

Quicky
Above is the Eminem interview on 60minutes. Really dope. Check it out, whether you're a fan or not.
Right now i am getting frustrated because i am doing nothing and have been up since 10. I'm watching "Overnight Delivery" with Paul Rudd and Reese Weatherspoon. Pretty funny. I just want/need to d something productive. Killing me. BUT just so you know this weekend has been pretty progressive. I miss my friends though and some other people/person. I chilled with the homie DJ Puertoroc, who is honestly one of the coolest people i've met that deals with the industry and hooked me up with the things i love, mainly beats and learning...i gotta do his beats justice.
Go check out his website: djpuertoroc.com i'm sure in due time i may make my way onto his site. That would be an accomplishment. Also check out freezyent.com in the coming days, i will be featured on the site (hopefully) with some new music you guys can check out. The website is currently undergoing changes so excuse the grammatical errors and any malfunctions.
Alright gotta go... 10page paper weighing over my head...yay
Jam on it
